Memorial Day

On Saturday I wanted to go somewhere cool to see if I could get some good shots so we headed up to the Salt Lake Cemetary only to remember that it was Memorial Weekend when we got there. There were people and flowers everywhere.

Blogs

It's amazing who you can find just surfing people's blogs and the people they have links on their page to. Just from reading a comment posted on Amanda's blog I was able to link through 3 other blogs and found my friend Missy that lived a couple doors down from me growing up that I haven't seen or talked to in probably 10 years. It's a crazy, crazy world!!!! Sooo if any of you have any long lost relatives or friends you want to find I recommend cruising blogs! There was a ton more people I wanted to link too but I have a limited attention span for cruising the net.

So as most everyone knows Aaron's family are all aspiring photographers...me somewhat included. So I thought I would share some of the test photo's I have taken just for fun in practicing my mad skills.

Garden Update

Not that any of you care but here is the update of my garden.
I have planted one pumpkin, one watermelon, regular peas, snow peas, beans, carrots, lettuce. I still need to plant cantalope which I apparently have to start indoors first, corn which I can't do until next month, and potatoes (I still have to go get the 'eyes' to plant). Here is what it looks like so far, which isn't much.
You can't really see but it is staked out with the rows.

Hobbits

So quite a while ago my friend Amanda dubbed my feet as 'Hobbit' feet and somehow it has stuck with everyone that has heard this. So as a tribute to Hobbit's around the world I give you this....

I personally see no resemblance. As for you, I will let you decide.

Working Mothers

I don't know how women have kids and work full time! This week I have had to go down to work everyday because 1/2 of our agents and my manager went on their bonus trip to Greece & Turkey and some other places along the coast in Europe and so I've been somewhat holding down the fort. It has made it hard to get any extra stuff done (like housework, run errands, etc...etc...). I have been taking my kid with me on the days I don't normally work so that has been interesting also. I figured out that if I just keep snacks readily available then it's not so bad. Plus I have some awesome co workers that love to take her and play with her for a while so that helps also. It does make me grateful that my work was so willing to be flexible with my schedule when I had my kid. I really do have the best boss in the whole entire universe.

Favorite Things

Brandi asked me when I started this blog if I was just going to brag about my child like everyone else's blog. Basically the answer is yes!


Below are a few of the kids favorite things :
1 - Playing on the computer (we only let her play on an old one of course!). She managed to change the screen saver on it yesterday, the genius!

2 - Eating!!! Especially if it involves dumping things all over the ground & getting it all over her face.

3 - Taking naps with Dad.

4 - Watching Sesame Street. A little young I know but she is mesmerized by it whenever I turn it on.

















5 - Playing with the tupperware and in general making a mess.

Time Flies

It really is crazy how much faster time flies the older you get. When I was little I remember it always taking forever to get through a year of school and I had so many more years to go until I was all done. Now I feel like school just started for all the kids yet here we are in May and all the college kids just graduated and the public schools just have one more month to go.

It seems like blogging is all about making lists so here are some other things that have flown by recently:
-Being married for 5 years (or maybe that feels like an eternity! j/k Aaron :)
-Being in our home for 3 1/2 years
-Having a kid almost a year ago (this one seems to have gone the fastest)
-Working at my current job for almost 5 years
-Aaron passing out on me 4 times because of his weak vaso vego reflex
Oh the list goes on and on of things that just keep passing me by. Before I know it I will be 50 (and probably partially insane by that time) and wondering where the past couple of decades went.

Going Green

When we first moved into our house I knew I wanted to try to have a little garden, so when we laid our sod we kept a small patch of dirt available to fulfill this so called whim.


Spring rolled around and we planted all kinds of wonderful vegetables including corn, beans, peas, potatoes, etc.... (but no tomatoes...tomatoes are gross).


However when we did this I was 8 months pregnant out pickaxing our harder than hard dirt...only to find out a week or so later that I was to be put on bed rest for high blood pressure.


Thus a screeching halt came to the progression of the garden.



Because of lack of attention or lack of good soil, no carrots, a small handful of beans, no peas, and absolutely no sign of potatoes arrived. We did get a good sprout of corn that dried out before we were able to pick them (including one mutant stalk that grew 11 feet high thanks to extra water it received from our backyard neighbors sprinkler system.)


But there was a star to our garden. Two great big huge pumpkins which we contemplated taking to the county fair for it being our only success.

So this year brings on attempt number two. Saturday I spent half the day hoeing the ever producing weeds out of the garden. Enjoy the pictures of the two stacks of rubbish I ended up with by the time I was done. We tilled it and tomorrow I'm going to poop it up with some manure to see if that helps, but it sure looks pretty after what it did look like (I was going to do a before picture but forgot).

On the down side my hands have never been so sore in my life as they have been the past two days. I tried to staple some papers at work today and it hurt like a banshee!!!
